MOROCCAN COUNTERPANE COLLECTION

: The original Williamsburg bedcover or counterpane from which this rug is based is indigo-dyed cotton embroidery on a loose weave cotton ground made in the early 1700's. It was probably made in Morocco or Turkey for the European market and brought to the colonies as a treasured possession. Karastan's interpretation, woven in Belgium of pure New Zealand wool recreates the look of an old needlepoint carpet. The linen colored ground gives it an antique feeling and complements the abundance of natural colored fabrics in today's market.
